Are photovoltaic solar panels a good option for laundry?

In many countries around the world, it is easy to get performance from solar panels, since they can provide us with between 60% and 100% of the electrical needs of the laundry during the day. On average, our country, Spain, has about 2,500 hours of sunshine per year. This value indicates that we are in a perfect place so that we can generate a large part of the energy we consume thanks to the installation of solar panels.

If, in addition to the large number of hours of sunshine, we consider the high cost per kWh, the answer is YES, photovoltaic solar panels are the best option for a laundry.

A photovoltaic solar installation can provide us with many benefits, such as being able to power our machinery during the day at zero cost, significantly reducing the operating cost of the laundry and even pouring surpluses during the day into the network to compensate for night-time consumption.

The working hours of a laundry are usually daytime hours, this means that the hours of consumption coincide with those of solar production, thus allowing maximum savings.

A laundry also raises other possibilities, let’s not only think about the energy consumed directly by the machines, but we can also think about heating the water that we are going to need for washing. In the washing machines there is also the option of combining the production of electrical energy with aerothermal energy, to generate hot water for washing, obtaining great yields where 1kWh produced by the plates produces 4kWh of thermal energy, saving gas/diesel consumption, with the consequent reduction in emissions.

It is essential to focus on technically responsible solutions that promote energy efficiency and renewable energy at km 0, since the cheapest energy is that which can be self-produced and does not have to be transported.

Investing in energy self-sufficiency meets sustainability goals and reduces carbon footprint. Working to improve the environment and mitigate the economic and social cost of energy consumption allows us to continue reducing our costs to offer a better service to our customers.

Sustainability is also the objective of INNOVER, an installation engineering company with more than 10 years of specialized experience in the design, marketing, processing, execution and maintenance of installations based on renewable energy sources, especially photovoltaic solar energy.
